# Title Black Saddlebags Ovipositing Description This photomontage shows a pair of Black Saddlebags (Tramea lacerata) ovipositing eggs in a small pond near Lake Michigan. The pair flies around the pond with the male grasping the female behind the head. When they locate the desired location, the male releases the female who then drops to the pond's surface, inserting the top of her abdomen in the water to deposit her eggs (not shown here). When finished, she flies back up to the male's grasp and the pair looks for the another spot to repeat the process.
