# Title Cocoon of an Antlion Description When an antlion is ready to undergo metamorphosis, it burrows deeper under the sand to create its cocoon. The cocoon is made of silk and the surrounding sand. This cocoon has been retrieved from under the sand after the adult emerged. You can see the remains of the exoskeleton protruding through the opening at the top.
