# Title Carolina Anole Description A Carolina (or "Green") Anole (Anolis carolinensis) perches on a metal sculpture in a garden at Lake Lure Flowering Bridge in Lake Lure, North Carolina. On September 27, 2024, less than a month after this photo was taken, flooding caused by Tropical Storm Helene caused catastrophic damage to the towns of Lake Lure and nearby Chimney Rock, resulting in the death of at least one person. The rushing water likely also killed this lizard and other terrestrial animals who lived in the area.
