# Title Eaton War Memorial Ceremony Description Eaton Manufacturing Corp. officials hold a dedication ceremony for a war memorial at its Vassar, Michigan, foundry. The sculpture is one of seven similar sculptures designed for Eaton by Marshall M. Fredericks. According to the archivist at the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum at Saginaw Valley State University, Eaton dedicated all seven sculptures simultaneously on September 9, 1949 using the company's "interfactory" network. The dedication was broadcast to 7200 workers at twelve plants in Ohio and Michigan. At each location, a Gold Star Mother placed a wreath upon the memorial and the general manager of the plant presented relatives of the fallen soldiers with a bronze medallion inscribed with the service member’s name carved around the edge. The Vassar sculpture has since been relocated to the city's Veterans Plaza.
