# Title Bald Eagle Description "Wilma," an injured Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), rests in an outdoor enclosure at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. Wilma came to Grandfather Mountain in 1981 after being injured by gunshot in the western U.S. After a long period of declining health and severe arthritis, Wilma was humanely euthanized in July 2010. She was at least 34 years old.
